'Acrylic Skin' transcends being a mere art material; it is a medium that embodies a deep reflection on discarded objects and the philosophy of resource circulation.
After completing an artwork, traces of unused paint inevitably remain on the palette. These remnants, which would typically be washed away or discarded as meaningless waste, dry over time as their moisture evaporates, hardening into a thin, durable layer known as a 'skin.' I carefully peel off these hardened traces, transforming them from passive byproducts into active subjects of art.
These pieces—condensed with the subtle colors, marbling, and textures of brushstrokes born from both intention and serendipity—become a new canvas and the paint itself within my work. This practice is a commitment to 'resource regeneration and circulation,' minimizing the waste generated during the creative process. Through Acrylic Skin, I seek to discover the unique beauty hidden within things that have served their original purpose, presenting a new possibility where the environment and art can coexist.
